Who we are

I’m Lachlan, I’m a C4/5 level quadriplegic after an accident diving into the water at the beach in 2013. Comvi is a project I'm passionate about, and have been working on for years.
Comvi started out of frustration, having had been in a wheelchair for a number of years and not being able to find pants that worked for me, I got in touch with a friend that was a fashion designer and the idea of the brand snowballed into what it is now!

I decided that if I was going to produce clothes, I was going to do it right. They needed to be fashionable foremost, but have adaptive features to make mine and everyone else’s lives easier.

Looking back at the initial business plan, the features I wanted were
  • Fashionable - I wanted to be confident that anyone wearing the clothes looked good, felt good and would be proud to say that they are wearing Comvi
  • Simple - I wanted them to be simple, part of a capsule wardrobe where they could be dressed up or down. You could go from brunch, to a meeting, to a date night without having to change your pants.
  • Accessible features-no seams, pockets, elastic waist, easy zips, usable pockets, a higher back, and a fit that was designed for sitting
  • Easy to shop - trying to figure out your size when buying clothes that aren’t adaptive is a nightmare, I wanted everyone to be confident that they could find the right size and not have to constantly return products that they bought
  • Confidence - I wanted to give wheelchair users confidence in their clothes, and confidence that they can style themselves anyway that they want

I also wanted the brand to be a representation of who I am, and the people around me. The name "Comvi", is the product of putting my siblings names together. Everyone involved in the process of getting these clothes into production and marketed are friends of mine - I wouldn’t have been able to start this without a community around me and I want the brand to reflect such a collaborative effort.

In a world of fast fashion, I want these clothes to be long lasting essentials that don't jump on trends, and fit as many occassions as possible. The idea is that the pants and shorts can be worn everyday, can be dressed up or down by changing your top or shoes, and they remove the need for having to get changed throughout the day. They need to be as comfortable at a wedding, as they are in the pub or just around the house.

The pride I have in this product is unbelievable, there has been a clear vision from the start and through multiple samples, daily wear and testing, we have arrived at this point, and I’m so happy to share the finished product with you.

Please enjoy these pants, make them your own and give us much feedback as possible. I have a commitment to ongoing development and refinement that cannot be done without the help of the people actually wearing them .

Thank you
